Structured Data
Learn about structured data in marketing
What is Structured Data?
Structured data is a standardized format for providing information about a page and its content in a way that search engines can easily understand. Implemented using schemas from Schema.org (e.g., Article, Product, FAQ, Breadcrumb), it’s typically added via JSON-LD in the HTML head. When correctly used, structured data can enable rich results in search—such as star ratings, event dates, or recipe cards—which increase visibility and click-through rates. However, it doesn’t directly affect rankings. Google’s Rich Results Test validates implementation. Misuse (e.g., hidden content or misleading markup) can lead to manual penalties.
