Indexing
Learn about indexing in marketing
What is Indexing?
Indexing is the process by which search engines analyze and store web pages in their database so they can appear in search results. After crawling a page, the search engine parses its content, evaluates relevance, and decides whether to include it in the index. Not all crawled pages get indexed—low-quality, duplicate, or noindex-tagged pages may be excluded. To monitor indexing, use Google Search Console’s Coverage report. Common indexing issues include soft 404s, blocked resources (via robots.txt), or canonicalization errors. Submitting a URL via GSC’s URL Inspection tool can expedite indexing for critical pages.
